About Clarence "Bones" Marks
My name is Clarence Marks, but you may know me by my nickname, Bones. I was born in Portland Oregon, but basically raised in Los Angeles. I attended West Vernon Elementary, John Adams Junior High, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. I played basketball for Jeff and loved it! 🏀🏀🏀
I went to college, but didn’t finish because I took care of my grandmother who had Alzheimer’s. She was born in 1894 and she told me so many amazing stories about her life. I’m proud of how she raised me and that my life was filled with a lot of fun and excitement growing up in the neighborhood with so many good friends. I’ve worked in retail most of my life from Thrifty’s to Whole Foods, but now I am retired and work part-time.
Bowling is the main sport that I enjoy. I started bowling when I was 5 years old. My dad was a mechanic at El Dorado Bowl and he would take me with him and let me roll the bowling ball down the lanes. I mostly rolled gutters then, but it was fun.
I continued bowling throughout my life, but when I started at Gardena with the EXPN Platform, I begin to take the game seriously and practiced a lot to get better. While I love the friendly competitive matches we have, I sure hate to lose. My most cherished moment in bowling is when I bowled a perfect 300 game in 2018! That is a day I will never forget and I’m looking forward to throwing more perfect games.
Upon closing, I would like to thank my EXPN family and friends for their support, especially my ride or die brothers, David Terrell and Dwayne Ellis. So there you have it, a brief summary of my life. I’m blessed and thankful. So to everyone who knows me, I say thank you for being a part of my life.
